We are one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected retirement village and aged care operators.
From humble beginnings
Summerset started in 1997 with a vision to create a retirement community that our own parents would be happy to call home. A place that puts the respect for its residents at the heart of everything we do.
It was the vision of founder, John O'Sullivan, and it's one that continues to guide us today, providing homes 'good enough for Nana.'
Residents can move in with the peace of mind that Summerset offers a continuum of care with a range of different support and living options. Today Summerset has grown over 35 villages across New Zealand where more than 8,000 residents call Summerset home.
While we’ve grown a lot bigger, and continue to grow, we still put everything to the ultimate test — is it good enough for Nana?
Summerset in the Community
Summerset are proud to be increasing the range of organisations we’re supporting and finding sponsorship opportunities that align with our brand and values, and support active and vibrant ageing. We consider it important to partner with a variety of initiatives and not-for-profit organisations to benefit and support all ages and stages. In New Zealand we support over 180 organisations at both national and local community level. We look forward to growing our community partnerships in Australia as we develop our villages.

Our Board of Directors
Summerset has an experienced Board with a diverse range of skills and experience both in Australia and in New Zealand. The Board is responsible for supervising and directing the management of the company, guiding the strategic direction of Summerset and ensuring strong corporate governance.

Our dedicated leadership team is responsible for the day-to-day running of our business in Australia and New Zealand. Their passion and experience motivates us to maintain the highest levels of care and innovation.
